TWO NEW APPOINTMENTS AND A NEW ASSIGNMENT IN MUSIC EDUCATION

Director Karl Kramer and Music Education Chair Louis Bergonzi announce the appointment of two new faculty members in the Music Education Division.
<>br> Brent Talbot will be teaching “Intro to Music Education,” “Middle School General Music Methods,” and a course in choral methods. Brent is ABD in the PhD music education program at Eastman, and happily reports that he was an undergraduate staff member who led the alto saxophone and melophone sections of the Indiana University Marching Hundred for four years. To learn more recent information about him, go to his website at Brent Talbot.

Karin Hendricks is a familiar face to many of our current students. After this coming Sunday’s U of I commencement, however, she’ll be Dr. Karin Hendricks. She’s going to be teaching strings class, studio string pedagogy for applied majors, and working with student teachers in strings/orchestra. "We’re thrilled she has agreed to share her enthusiasm and areas of multiple expertise with us for one more year," said Dr. Bergonzi.

Professor Chester Alwes, a veteran faculty member, is neither new, nor joining us for just next year, but he is a now an affiliate faculty member in the Music Education Division. Dr. Alwes will be teaching courses in choral literature and conducting. An important person to the School of Music, and someone who has worked with many music education majors as a member of the Choral Division, more music education majors will now benefit from his work and passion for choral literature/conducting with this appointment.

Welcome and best wishes to all!
